I believe that they are almost the same, it's just that the pressed powder is more handy.
If you are going to compare the available colors of the pressed powder to the balls, it would be the Mythic version of it.
What's great about this product is that as you oil up, it won't give you that 'oily-look' but instead would give you that dewy look.

As what you said, the pressed powder is expensive, but i believe that Guerlain's product are true to its quality. You will be getting what your money's worth for it in the long run
